Visual Studio + Suspicious file detected

I also tried turning off data protection entirely for 15 minutes but Norton still flags my program as “suspicious” and blocks it.

My exe is about 3 levels below the “c++tutorial” folder (and I have selected “include subfolders”) so I’m baffled. I’ve also tried excluding the program which Norton complains about and it shows as excluded but I still get blocked.

Usual comments as I recall were = developers need to create a work-product folder and exclude that folder from Norton 360 Scans x 2 & exclude related processes from Data Protector.

Maybe, Data Protector objects to .tmp files/unsigned .tmp files created by installer/program.
I’ve needed to temporary disable Data Protector when installing known safe programs.

Exclusion process not working

I develop Windows EXE executable files and use Microsoft Visual Studio (in Admin mode) to debug them. Whenever I try to perform a file update, e.g. change the File Creation Date, the file process is constantly being intercepted by Data Protector. Sometimes Norton reports this, but often it does not. I am using Windows 11 Pro, Ver 23H2. (The Exclusion List used to work some months ago, but I don't know at what point it stopped working because I wasn't trying to do File operations until recently.) …

I have the same problem, has anyone find an answer that works. Norton has become a real pain to use.
