VLC TV app can't connect to windows 11 Pro share using SMB due to Norton 360 firewall blockage

Issue abstract: VLC on my Android TV cannot o view media over my LAN that is shared by Windows 11 Pro. I have enabled Media sharing on WIN11Pro, VLC uses SMB so I enabled that feature in Windows 11. I got it all set up. The share connection worked once. I put in the WIN11 username and password. That was it. Now, the connection is blocked by Nortons Firewall.

Detailed description:
I want to use VLC on my Android TV to view media over my LAN that is shared by Windows 11 Pro. I have enabled Media sharing on WIN11Pro, VLC uses SMB so I enabled that feature in Windows 11. I got it all set up. The share connection worked once. I put in the WIN11 username and password. That was it. Now, the connection is blocked by Nortons Firewall. The Norton log shows that an SMB intrusion has been blocked well over 100 times from one of three Android devices.
The Cx File Exporer app accesses the same media files from all three devices without being blocked by Norton’s Firewall.
Product & version number:

OS details:Windows 11 Pro 24H2. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.26100.2161]

What is the error message you are seeing? VLC reaches the point where the Windows username and password are entered. It does not accept my submittals.

Norton 360 reports no devices are blocked. No applications are listed as blocked.

Hello. Have you reset your firewall and allowed the connections to connect there?

Norton Support fixed the problem!!! The support tech did a remote control investigation. She bummed it up to her supervisor. They created a Firewall Rule for my WIN11 Pro that allowed VLC access. BINJO

THANK YOU Norton Support for excellent help
