Will Norton 360 detect and protect users from Chinese "Volt Typhoon" malware?
A couple of articles on this malware group.
From a Microsoft Security blog dated May 24, 2023
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/blog/2023/05/24/volt-typhoon-targets-us-critical-infrastructure-with-living-off-the-land-techniques/
And a joint Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), National Security Agency (NSA), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) security advisory dated February 7, 2024
https://www.cisa.gov/news-events/cybersecurity-advisories/aa24-038a
These articles point to the targets of this group's potential attacks are not individual home computer users but the systems for national infrastructure, primarily in Communications, Energy, Transportation Systems, and Water and Wastewater Systems Sectors—in the continental and non-continental United States and its territories, including Guam.
As Microsoft put this out in May of 2023, if there were anything Norton customers needed protection from, Norton would probably have had the MS info before the blog article, and they would have made any necessary adjustments to their products.
