Vpn Auto Connect radio button for "Any Wi-Fi" no longer exists after latest update

Radio button for vpn setting to keep vpn on for all wifi connections no longer available after latest Android update. The “Any Wi-Fi” radio button that maintains active vpn for all wifi connections no longer exists. Samsung S24 FE / Android 14. Norton technical support tells me this is working as designed. How can this important privacy feature be deprecated?

I can confirm the Any Wi-Fi option is no longer in the latest version of the 360 VPN.

But I also just tested on my Samsung A15 on Android 14 and I manually turned on the VPN on my home network that is protected by a strong wifi password. I then turned off the phone and then turned on the phone again. After things initialized, the VPN did stay turned on. So that setting may not be needed now.

I appreciate the response, however when I manually enable the vpn, it continually turns itself off. It appears to me that Norton didn’t test or fully think this out before removing this critical feature. Is it just a cost- saving move by Norton to lower overall vpn usage? Certainly you can’t justify removal of this capability in the interest of customer security and privacy. So tell me, what is the official reason for deprecating this vital feature? You’ll be losing me as a customer.

I do not work for Norton. I am just a user like you who tries to help others from my experience using the Norton products. Why decisions are made about what features to add/remove/keep are made by people way above my pay grade.

You say the VPN turns itself off. When does this happen? Is it after a given time, or when you restart the device? If after a restart, I noted that it took 30 seconds to a minute for the VPN to become active after restarting the device.

peterweb…sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not able to say with any certainty the exact circumstance when the vpn disables itself after I manually enable it. I don’t see any rhyme/reason when this occurs. I did restart the device and initially it appeared that the vpn remained connected for a longer period of time, but then fell back to previous behavior where it turns off after a short duration. I also went into Android phone settings (More connection settings/VPN/Norton 360) and enabled ‘Always-on VPN.’ This appears to have had no effect on the vpn disabling itself after being manually enabled.

Are you moving between different wifi networks when this disconnect happens? If so, are they all secure networks, or a mix of secured and unsecured?

Do you have the Autoconnect setting turned on in the 360 Privacy > VPN Settings? If not, try that.

I do have Auto Connect enabled. The vpn continually disables itself while I am on a secure home wifi network. I never had this behavior prior to the latest Norton 360 update. I relied on Auto Connect feature invoking the “Any Wi-Fi” setting

And under the Autoconnect section, be sure have not checked Never. You want the autoconnect for unsecured wifi enabled.

Also check that the Increase VPN Performance setting is turned on, so that the battery saving feature in Android is not shutting off the VPN.

I have given Norton my feedback on this issue.

From my perspective the button should say “Any wifi except for trusted networks”.

That makes the most sense to me.

I give up. Just installed a vpn client on my router and no longer need to deal with the silly decision by Norton to remove the valuable feature to enable vpn for all wifi connections. This is how you lose customers…thanks all

Thanks for posting back. Sorry we could not resolve this one. It would have been good if we could have found what was happening on your device. I had my VPN turned on all this time while trying to help and it never turned off.
