I’m on Apple iOS 17. When VPN is on it will not let me retrieve mail, I get an error.
I’ve been switching this setting off and on but it’s getting old.
What you appear to be seeing is your email provider seeing a login attempt from somewhere they are not expecting, and they ask for verification it is really you trying to access your account.
If you are using webmail to access your email, there is not much you can do about this other than contacting your email provider’s support to see if they have a workaround for VPN users.
If you are using a local Android email client you can use the Split Tunnel feature of the VPN to allow that app to bypass the VPN and you will no longer see this message to sign in. You can use the information in this Norton Support article to add your email client to Split Tunnel. Fix Internet connectivity problem with an app or a program after connecting to Norton VPN Scroll down the page to see the split tunnel information.
Unfortunately the iOS 360 VPN does not yet have a split tunnel feature. So you are back to contacting your email provider to see if they have a work around for you.
I installed Norton 360 on my wife’s Pixel Pro 8. Norton VPN is a separate app. The app also has split tunneling. I tried to install the separate iOS app but it used the same one that was already built in. I’ll contact support and let you know what they say.
The 360 Android app does have the VPN feature included. And it does have the split tunnel feature. It is not a separate app. If you did also install the stand alone Norton Secure VPN app, you should remove it and use the VPN feature in 360.
As noted above, the iOS version does not yet have the split tunnel feature.
