Since loading Norton 360, I am unable to successfully establish any VPN connections. This problem did not exist before, and quite honestly, I'm not presently blaming the problem on Norton 360. However, my post here is to find out whether or not anyone else has run into this issue.
My concern is possibly a firewall issue (i.e. a programs, rules, etc.) that could be causing this issue.
Thanks in advance for any insights . . .

I would recommend reviewing the below document to configure your Norton 360 firewall to allow for your VPN connection:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/norton360.nsf/0/c7cddb1ba72b95036525736800684073
Which VPN software and version are you using? This might also be helpful in determining the problem. Thanks!
Tony:
Thanks for the follow up. I'm using Microsoft's Built-In VPN client for Windows XP SP2.
I reviewed the document you suggested, and looked at the internal settings for my firewall. There didn't appear to be any entry related to VPN processes (e.e. PPTP, L2TP, etc) that I could mess with.
As I'm writing this, I'm thinking I will just turn on Windows firewall at this point and TURN OFF the Norton Firewall to see if that makes a difference. If it does, then I may just use Windows firewall and leave the Norton 360 firewall disabled.
I will make sure to revisit this thread regardless of what the results are to close the loop on this issue.
Thanks again for your help.
Rick
Hi,
I have the same problem. Running Vista Ultimate and Norton V2 360. Whatever I try on the rules and the firewalls, it just won't connect. The only thing that really helped was uninstalling Norton, which is not a solution because of the protection. I raised an issue with Norton support today and hope they have a proper answer.
It is weird, that is you disable the norton firewall it still seems to block traffic some how and that you have to uninstall the whole product to be sure it is not active anymore
Hi san-vision,
Am I correct in assuming that you've already tried the previously mentioned document, and have contacted our free Customer Support?
These are the first things I would recommend to get your issue resolved as quickly as possible. Thanks!
Hi Tony,
yes I did all that. Basically when switching off the fire wall it should just go through. If that happens you can then add the rule. If you don't get through even with the fire wall switched off completely there is no point adding rules.
However the good news is that after being in touch with the helpdesk they have provided me with a couple of updates of the product and it now works fine, even without touching the default firewall settings. At lease for the windows VPN that is. I tried the Cisco one, but that one is still not working, but that may have to do with the fact I am on the network of another company. Will try that tonight.
SO to get VPN windows working on Vista Ultimate with Norton 360 you need to run Version 2 of the product and install all latest updates.

Hi Slammer01,
no problems here with Norton 360 V2 "default settings" and Vista Ultimate 32bit.
I know about a bug in Windows XP SP3 RC2 which is resolved in SP3 RTM.
What os are you using? Which Norton 360? V1 or V2?
Cheerio Lars
