VPN drops forcing me back onto my regular internet connection

This has been happening increasingly during the last month or so. I am set up to use the VPN and, whenever the computer reboots, it does default to the VPN connection. HOWEVER, while the computer is active, recently, the VPN connection keeps dropping pushing my computer back to the normal ISP connection. I have to manually go into the Norton 360 settings and reactivate the VPN which is “turned off”.

Norton 360 version:26.6.11052 (build 26.6.11052.989)

OS Windows 11 build 26200.8894

Issue abstract: VPN keeps disconnecting.

Hello @TrevorD_Money
Since you posted with Norton VPN for Windows.
Please confirm you’re only running Norton 360 Secure VPN?

  • Please confirm that Reconnect after restarting is enabled.
  • Please confirm that Auto Connect is set to Always (if your preference is for the VPN to remain connected whenever you’re online).

Please confirm your Windows version and OS build (Settings > System > About), for example Windows 11 Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.8894.

Please run Norton LiveUpdate + Restart (not Shut down) machine.
Norton Security 26.7 for Windows is now available!

  • Please confirm whether you’re connected via Ethernet (wired) or Wi-Fi (wireless).
  • Does the VPN turn Off while connected to the same network, or does it occur after your network reconnects (for example, after waking from Sleep)?
  • Please confirm that Reconnect after restarting is enabled.
  • Please confirm your VPN Auto Connect setting (Always or Custom). If Custom, which of the four options are enabled?
  • Please confirm your Windows version and OS Build (run winver).

Please post your progress
Thanks

I have the opposite problem. Want to use VPN selectively. But I can’t turn it off. It’s problematic on certain sites. But even if I turn it off in start-up apps, it turns itself back on everytime. I’m a bit fearful of an app that can even overcome my computer’s settings!

Norton VPN extension?
Windows version and OS Build (run winver)?
