VPN says it is on but does not take control of my connection

I am used to running Norton 360's VPN on a Windows 10 HP and it works, although I always noticed slower performance with the VPN on. I just set up my new Windows 11 Lenovo Yoga laptop. I installed 360 on the Yoga and it seems fine otherwise, but the VPN does not take control of the router connection, even though it is on and reports that it is running. if i hover over the wi-fi icon it shows a connection to my router. Is this a conflict with windows defender or something? Screenshot shows VPN reports it is on, but the Wi-Fi says otherwise

Might be something to do with Windows 11. My system cannot upgrade to Win 11 so I cannot test. Maybe others can test and report here.

Thanks, peterweb!  Great suggestion.  Looks like its just a display issue.  The IP address does move around when i turn the vpn on and off.  Not sure if it's windows or norton that has an issue, but it's weird not knowing if you're vpn is on or off.

The true test is to check your IP address at    https://whatismyipaddress.com/

First test with the VPN off. Then turn the VPN on and test again to see if your IP has changed.
