I have activated split tunneling for Windows Live Mail 2012 and excluded wlmail.exe and wlcomm.exe. However when I launch Windows Live Mail I get an error code 0x800CCC0E when attempting to read mail from the server. Sending mail works correctly. I am running Windows 10 64 bit 21H1.
Elgin370:Today I was doing some research on the Windows Live Mail error 0x800CCC0E error with the Norton VPN turned on and I realized I had the VPN setting “Kill Switch” set on. I turned off the kill switch and opened WLM and to my astonishment I did not get the 0X800CCC0E error. I turned the “Kill Switch” back on and I again got the 0x800CCC0E error. Turning off the “Kill Switch” setting seems to fix the problem. Of course, you must exclude the executable wlmail.exe in the VPN Split Tunneling” settings. If anyone else has been getting this error with WLM and the Norton VPN I would be interested to know if turning off the “Kill Switch” eliminates the error for them.
I just tried that but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I notice though that sometimes I can receive emails with the VPN on. I guess it depends on the IP address I am assigned.

@peterweb
The Windows Live Mail program is a Windows program installed through the registry. It is not accessed through a browser. As mentioned in my original post, the main Windows Live Mail program wlmail.exe is excluded in the Split Tunnel settings. Thanks for the suggestions.
Please excuse a silly question, because I know nothing about Windows Live Mail.
Are you using an app downloaded for Windows Live Mail? And have you excluded the .exe file for that app in the Split Tunnel Settings?
AFAIK, you cannot exclude any web based features/apps that you access through a browser.
@Krusty13 I saw your post and tried to add a comment to it but the post was locked. I was not able to reply so I added another post. Hopefully someone will have a resolution. Until then I have to turn off the VPN every time I want to use WLM. Not a good solution.
I had the same error and mentioned it elsewhere. Unfortunately I never received a reply or resolution.
