Vprosvc.exe and Vprotray.exe are hogging my CPU time. Any Suggestions???

I am running Norton Ghost 14.0 on a Windows XP Service pack 3 Athlon 3800+ with 3Gbytes of memory.  I have elected not to run norton ghost in the task bar.  The Norton programs Vprosvc.exe and Vprotray.exe are running in the background and utilizing between 25-40% of my system resources.  This is way too much for a program that I need to run once a week.  Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
