Believe it or no, a few weeks ago my Verizon router updated to a Frontier firmware version of 40.22.3.3 without any notice or intervention. I did note the router had rebooted on its own. Now that this version has installed there is no automatic link for the router to check for updates, AND, no way to restore to the Verizon firmware unless I had a stored version. I did not have the backup unfortunately. Frontier is owned by Verizon and everything works as it should, all services including TV and VOIP. The router is an Actiontec Ml424WR rev.1, this is just something Verizon customers who are NOT on the Quantum service to watch for.
Cheers
I have Verizon FiOS, however, i don't believe we upgraded to Quantum....
All: Verizon, has automatically pushed firmware to those affected routers which addresses the issues in these three CVE's. Your router will update itself without any interaction if you are affected. Please read this article for reference.
