I am a long term Norton user, previously various editions of Systemworks and more recently 360. My current subscription, which has now automatically updated to 5.1.0.29 runs out in 21 days and a month or two ago ago I bought a brand new, as yet unopened 360 v5 on special as it was much cheaper than renewing my subscription (or was at the time - with the current specials on renewal it's now line ball).
Given I now have it, can I somehow get the new subscription to start or take over without having to uninstall and reinstall, which would then also involve re-downloading all the updates to get it to v5.1.0.29 and virus definitions etc? I did find a similar question using search but it referred to much earlier versions, I didn't fully understand the only reply and couldnt seem to reply/add to that rather than starting a new thread. If so, how do I do it please?
You do not need to uninstall and reinstall Norton 360. You just need to activate it with the newly purchased product Key. Make sure that you have purchased the same flavor of Norton 360 which is installed in your computer. Here are the steps to activate Norton 360 using the new Product key:
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
Start Norton 360.
On the bottom-right corner of the Norton product window, click Activate Now or Renew.
Type in your Product Key.
Click Next.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
When finished, review your subscription details, and then click Done.
Just adding to cyberlife's message -- wait until a couple of days before your subscription expires and then use the new KEY because new KEYs do not add to unexpired time but replace it, unlike on line renewal which does add the two together.
We do get reports of Norton''s OnLine Customer Support CHAT people putting this right but it's better not to rely on it and delay using the KEY.
