I hope someone can help? I am not a Norton Ghost 15 expert. Basically the story goes: The motherboard/ power went on an old PC.
I have purchased a new computer and now wish to retieve Music, Photos, My Desktop, My Documents and My Videos that were backed up onto a WD USB device using Norton Ghost 15.
I am also hoping that I can drop the backed folders as they were filed/ named/ divided into sub folders onto my new PC. I have opened Norton Ghost, clicked on Recover My Files > Imported Backup Destination and now struggling.
Any thoughts, advice or help would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling this will be a long Saturday!
Did you use Backup My Computer (V2I / IV2I image files) or File and Folder Backup (FBK files)? Most Ghost users do not use File and Folder Backup because quite frankly it sucks. Most users use Backup My Computer to create image files of their partitions. If you have a V2I file, open it using Recovery Point Browser and then you can easily restore your files / folders.
Sorry for the late response - and many thanks for taking the time to respond. I did have a V2I image file file on the WD drive and went for the latest version (date wise).
I have spent many hours filing the folders away back onto the new PC.
Also spoke to a very helpful Norton support technician based in India who accessed the computer remotley - the whole process was not as straightforward as I would have imagined. But at least I have all the data.
