I know there are some other Powerdesk users around these forums since I met them here on the context menu problem some while back!
I got an update notice on my PowerDesk 8.3 yesterday and allowed it -- it took me to 8.4 ....
Now today I can't print from Windows Live Mail or Notepad, although Test Print works OK,
Windows worked on the error situation and the details showed:
Googled on the error and came up with this one:
DIALOG Helper 8.4.1.12 crashes IE 9 print and Print preview ...
I'm on IE8 but it's there also.
Avanquest support is on SoftCIty now and doesn't look very active in solving problems judging by the dating.
There's nothing at the FAQ's http://www.softcity.com/support/list-faq?publicId=power-desk
I'll see if I can disable that module within PD
But DON"T UPDATE is my advice
You can disable Dialog Helper -- check the help file for the menu route to it but that does not work on my WIndows 7 where I only have PowerDesk 8 as a menu entry -- my modicification I suspect -- but using START / Search on Dialog Helper brought me straight to a link to it and on the small control screen is Disable Dialog Helper at once and it does. Print from Notepad worked -- but not from WLM
There's an entry in Startup for PD so I've disabled that
None of this was a complete success so I did a ruthless uninstall with Revo Uninstaller to Stage 4 -- it found 2000 registry entries and 1200 files and folders still there after Uninstall had run but that was probably because you have to skip Restart in the middle of Revo Uninstalls since it does not pick up where it left off -- at least it didn't some versions back so I tell Windows to Cancel the restart and then continue with Revo. Then Restart after Revo fineshes.
Print now seems to work ....
Got a reply from Avanquest to ask SoftCity .... where there is no information ....
I may clean install 8.3 but now that I've found that Windows 7 has added the Copy path to text to the context menu I may not ...
