Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you.
Did you have any other security software installed?
No, originally had Norton 360 installed, but had to unistall it to install sysworks, etc.
I'm very sorry for the problems you've encountered. From the sound of it, you've already tried the Vista disk "Startup Repair", is this correct? When you removed Norton 360, did you use the uninstall, or the Norton Removal Tool? Remnants of Norton 360 might possibly be causing the problem, though I haven't heard of this type of problem occurring. Please try running the Removal Tool and reinstalling NSW 2008. Let me know if this helps, or if it is something you've already tried. Thanks!
Let me start by correcting myself, the program is called Save and Restore 2.0 . Before I reinstalled Vista, I used Xcopy to move the files I needed to keep to another drive in the computer. Then I reinstalled Vista, updated it then I used Vista’s Backup Status and Configuration tool and backed up my drive to a spare drive in the same computer. This time I installed sysworks, no probs, then antivirus, no probs, then decided to try once again. I installed Save and Restore, but this time it installed slightly different then the first time. A menu came up after install, something that didn’t happen the first time. Long story short, It went okay then I used Save and Restore to backup and have done twice since then, using incremental. Hopefully, if and when I have another crash someday, I will be able to restore using the program. Actually, I will use Vista’s recovery program then System Restore to copy the first backup I made with it and be in business again.
Hi Beetlejuice,
Thank you for the update. Please let us know if you encounter this problem again.
