WARNING - CHANGE THE DEFAULT FOR 'PLUG-INS' 3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS.
The Norton clean up options remove temp files far better than Windows or other 3rd party tools I have used. However, after using it on 3 PCs last weekend, I find that my archives of Yahoo IMs have been completedly deleted. In looking more carefully at the default settings, I find that the deletion of Yahoo IM history happens by default. See attached screenshot.
But, if a user does not want to keep history in the Yahoo archive then there won't be any history to delete. THIS DEFAULT MUST BE CHANGED to DEFAULT TO NOT removing IM history. This is the only example of meaningful content being deleted during the cleaning process. As a result, I need to tediously restore deleted IM history on five PCs.
THIS WAS A VERY BAD ASSUMPTION BY NORTON ON SETTING DEFAULTS.
