Was upgraded a free subscription, but then told it was a mistake

I was having an issue logging into my account because I lost my phone and I had a two factor authentication on my account.

Because of the 2FA and me not having my phone I couldn’t verify my number. I was never given any recovery codes when I signed up with Norton so I couldn’t log in that way either. The only other option I had was to have Norton delete my account, in which I would lose everything that was saved in my cloud on all my devices. I had no other choice at this point.

Because of that, and because of Norton never giving me recovery codes I was told that I would receive an upgraded subscription for a year from that day. I have an email stating this, then I starting getting emails about my subscription ending in such and such days and I needed to renew. I questioned it and contacted Norton explaining to them what had happened.

The agent who I talked to says “I would like to inform you that the last agent transferred your subscription to your new account. They added a similar number of days that you had in your Norton subscription left on your older account. I would request to ignore the email you received.” The agents exact words.

I refused to pay for a renewal, I was never informed about the agent transferring my subscription so I was a little upset. Basically lied to.

Has anyone else had this issue? I haven’t renewed and probably never will if this doesn’t get resolved.

So, if I follow your report.
Norton transferred your remaining days to a new Norton account.
You did not receive an upgraded free one year subscription.

Were you supposed to receive one year free subscription after your old account remaining days expiry.
Were you supposed to receive one year free subscription starting from transfer to new account date?

Correct, I didn’t receive a free renewal.

was told by the agent when I had to delete my old account I would get an upgraded renewal for one year from that day my old account was deleted. Like I said in which I have the email stating this, but the agent I spoke with after that said to ignore that email now. Lol. :woman_shrugging:t4:

what’s an upgraded renewal? and when was “upgraded” renewal supposed to start??

  • Were you supposed to receive free one year subscription starting from transfer to new Norton account?

  • Did you receive free one year subscription starting from transfer to new Norton account?

Did you try support, again. Sometimes different agent…yields different results.

Ok, bad wording there. It wasn’t a quote on quote “upgraded renewal”, it was just supposed to be a new one year renewal of the same subscription I had in place at the time.

Starting from the day of closing of my old account and opening of my new account.

I was never told there was going to be any type of transfer of days left that were remaining on my subscription at the time, just that my account was closing and the new one was opening with the new one year subscription starting from that day.

I did not receive the complimentary one year subscription, it ended a week ago that was from the original subscription dates just added to my new account under a different email.

I reached out once and that’s what I was told, plan on reaching out again, just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Because if it has that’s pretty sh***y of Norton. I’m debating if I want to renew or not or if I want to explore other options at this point.
