fakhriddin,

To disable N360's clearing private data function, double click on the N360 tray icon, click on "settings" and then uncheck "firefox privacy cleanup" on the right hand toolbar. This will prevent N360 from clearing your browsing history (along with some other stuff that N360 deletes to try to protect your privacy).

Hope that helps

~scott

I've found that even without the option ticked norton continues to cleanup my private data. o.0

Any known problems / solutions ?

Crazometer,

Sorry to hear you are still having troubles with Firefox's private data getting cleared. I spent a little time experimenting with the N360 setting mentioned above and it appears to behave as expected on my end. Is it possible that something else is causing the private data to be cleared on your system? For example, Firefox has a setting which automatically clears private data every time you close your browser.

scott_moen,

thanks for quick reply, as Crazometer mentioned, it is still cleaning up after uncheking that.

Do you think reinstalling of Norton 360 or either Firefox can fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear for everyone here, be sure you are doing the following:

1) Follow Scott_moen's directions:

To disable N360's clearing private data function, double click on the N360 tray icon, click on Settings and then uncheck firefox privacy cleanup on the right hand toolbar. This will prevent N360 from clearing your browsing history (along with some other stuff that N360 deletes to try to protect your privacy)

2) Open Firefox > Tools > Options > Privacy, and uncheck the Always Clear My Private Data When I close Firefox checkbox. Click OK.

3) Close both products. Relaunch them both, and check these settings again to ensure they are disabled. Then use Firefox to browse to sites, close the browser, and relaunch. Is any of the Firefox data missing that should have been saved?

Hmmm. The setting must've managed to retick itself when I updated to firefox 3. Thanks for the obvious advice. =) (no sarcasm).

Is there a way to do a once off manaul clean ?

Crazometer,

Glad it turned out to be an easy fix.

To answer your question: in Firefox, click on tools -> clear private data. This will open up a little window with a list of categories that you can select to clear. Select your desired categories and then click the "Clear Private Data Now" button at the bottom.

As for getting the little box to pop up after tools > clear private data?

when i play around with this i see that what is happening…  when the box is checked in 360 what is does is check the box in FF and keep it checked… if you uncheck it in FF and the 360 option is on 360 goes and rechecks the FF box… so to get it to stop you need to uncheck it 360 and then go over to FF and uncheck it there…
