I'm running Windows XP Home SP2 on a Gateway 2000 laptop with Safety Minder v1.0.3.18 running and enabled. I can login as a computer account that is associated with my daughter's profile in Onlinefamily but no sites are blocked and I receive no notifications that any web or search activity has taken place. I can visit sites that should be blocked, and search for items in Google that are associated with the blocked sites (such as porn, gambling, drugs, etc.) The only activity reporting that is currently working is for Time. In the Onlinefamily console I check Settings -> Web and the option 'Block the site' is selected under 'supervise Web activity', and 'Web Supervision' is turned on. I have selected 19 Site Categories, and even entered specific websites and still nothing is blocked.
Norton 360 v3.0.0.135 is also installed but the Parental Control add-on for 360 is not installed. In 360 Settings under Quick Controls, all options are selected EXCEPT Silent Mode.

When I go to Profiles->Go, I see the two computers that have Safety Minder installed. One of them has my daughter's account and shows that she 'is protected' in green with a check mark. The other computer has no account for her and displays the appropriate message. I have assigned her profile in the Safety Minder console to a new Windows account on the laptop, and it doesn't work properly for that account, either.
I am in the US, and do not have other Parental Controls installed on that machine.
I have tried FireFox 3.0.6 and IE 6.0.2900.2180, neither have any proxy configured. The Norton Firewall from 360 is the only firewall configured.
So when you said no web sites were blocked in your original post, Did you login to the pc as your daughter, where she ‘is protected’ (“One of them has my daughter's account and shows that she 'is protected' in green with a check mark.”), or to the second pc where had no account for her?
Thanks for the personal email and getting me in touch with the folks to fix the problem. The support folks were great and everything is now working as it should. This is wonderful!
As Jody indicated in the post that we are working on this issue now.If you like, I will be more than happy to send you an email or a PM when we have an update on this issue.
I wonder if there is a time frame that I should be waiting before it works and logs offensive or off-limit types of sites. I just started this this morning and then logged into the computer as my son, it had a little pop up from the task bar indicating that it was monitoring, and then I searched for porn and all sorts of alarming stuff and got there! Then there was no indication, going into the computer into my account and checking on his activity. It said no activity for 7 days, just like before I gave him some activity. Also, I've got no email about it yet.
Windows XP media center using mozilla firefox.
I have to say I'm impressed with the responses by employees. Pretty cool.
You indicate that you did "searches" for porn. The product does not stop searching for porn specifically however it should have turned "safe search" on for each of the search sites you used. Once safe search is turned on, you should have not gotten any of the data you described.
Are you certain Safe Search is turned on in your settings?
Could you be more specific as to the OS (Windows xp, Windows Vista, Windows 7) you are using as well as the browser, (Internet Explorer, Firefox).
If you send us more details we may be able to give you more information.
Yes, safe search was turned on. It is Windows XP running Firefox for a web browser. More interesting than safe search not really working as I would have expected was that for days (until I gave up looking) it didn’t register that the kids had been on the computer or internet at all. I had set up the different user accounts for the computer in order to allow it to search. Just checked and my children, according to Norton, have no activity for all time. This is not true of them. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
I am in Canada. I downloaded the Norton Safety Minder on my son's laptop and set it up so that he would not be able to access porn sites. However, it does not seem to prevent him (I got msg from safety minder saying safety minder is disabled and showing - when I checked it was enabled, but he can access the porn sites).
