Website to cause mobile phone to take pictures and scream

On the NMS "Help and Support" feature on the mobile phones, A website is referred to that will allow the triggering of the phones camera and the testing of the "scream" feature.

What is the address of this website?

The website referred to on the phone just takes you to the forum.

Thanks,

Hi, Dirk,

What you're looking for is the new Norton Anti-Theft website:

http://antitheft.norton.com/

You'll sign in there using your username and password for your Norton Account, and when you do you'll have access to all the controls to test/operate those features you mention, as well as the traditional lock and locate.

Also, make sure you’ve installed the Norton Anti-Theft plugin from the market.

Thanks dist and eric.  I needed both of your infos.....

Checked out the scream function..... it works.  Unfortunately I have a Droid X with no FF camera so can't test the picture taking, but everything else works no no reason to think that feature wouldn't.

Really like this app....

Yep, it's a good one--and getting better!

Glad you're happy. You know where to find us, if you need us again.

Does the picture taking work with a Droid2Global with only a rear facing camera?

Hi blondcb,

I think that strictly this is a question about Norton Anti-Theft (the web based application) for which there is another forum at:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Anti-Theft/bd-p/NAT

For those with an interest.

However as you have asked the question in this thread I will answer as well as I can.  I cannot guarantee that it will take a photo with your device but having tried it out with my phone, which also just has a reward facing camera, it works fine.  Apart from the fact that most of the time my phone is in a sleeve or on its back on the desk! :-(

Some devices still make a noise but mine is silent when taking a sneak peek even though when I take a photo it makes a ridiculously loud noise.  Wish Norton could tell me how to silence the shutter noise permanently.

As Norton Anti-Theft is a free plug in for NMS why not just try it and report back, here or in the other forum how it does or does not work.

Hope that helped.

I have a Droid X with rear facing camera & the "sneak peek" worked to snap the picture.  The problem is that I have the shutter sound turned off on my phone but when "sneak peek" took the picture the shutter sound was on.  If my phone had actually been stolen and I was trying to stealthily locate it by taking a picture, the loud snapping of the shutter would have tipped off anyone within 5 feet of the phone (unless of course they were totally deaf in which case they would have no reason to steal the phone in the first place).

Hello naivebelle.

Welcome to the Community and thanks for the information.

It is apparent that Norton have not yet got fully on top of silencing the camera on all phones.  Some it works for.  With mine for instance, I cannot work out how to silence the phone myself but Sneak Peek manages to take its picture silently, but with some others there is the problem you have.

Now that you have reported it I'm sure the team will look into it.  However may I ask you to do one extra thing to help them.  You say you had the camera sound turned off.  Could you try turning it on and then taking a Sneak Peek.  See what happens then.  It occurs to me that it may be a toggle issue.  But it may not.  I look forward to hearing.

Should anyone else want to post on the subject of Sneak Peek may I suggest that they do so in the Norton Anti Theft forum

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Anti-Theft/bd-p/NAT

Where discussions on Sneak Peek are more likely to be picked up by the relevant team.  And this thread is in any case, already marked as "solved".

Hi AndMike,

Turning the camera shutter sound back on did not fix the sneak peek shutter sound issue.

Thanks for trying naivebelle.

Now we will just have to wait for Norton to do a bit more work on this and hope a fix turns up in an update before too long.

Good luck.
