Websites not blocked

I have just installed and configured the Norton Safety Monitor.  I have set it to block websites, but it does not.  I am running Vista SP1 and Avast Antivirus.  I tried to load playboy.com and it let me even after I specifically blocked it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi menza,

Please make sure you have Web supervision (Settings->Web) turned on under Web Site Settings.  Also, after you enter a specific web site to block, click Add To List and make sure you click Update Settings as well.

Thanks,

Katie

Also, once you have updated the settings in the web portal, go to the child's PC, right-click the NSM client icon and select 'Update House Rules'.  This periodically happens automatically, but this will ensure that the most recent House Rules are in place before you try to go to the site you are attempting to block.

Thanks,

Jason

I've tried all of teh above, and websites are still not blocked, nor does any activity show up on the homepage.  The homepage does tell me that when the time limits have been exceeded.

Thanks

Hi menza,

Could you reboot your pc to see if it makes any difference?  If not, please answer the following questions:

What Operating System and version do you have?

What Web Browser and version do you use?

Do you have Symantec/Norton product installed or any other Anti-Virus or Security product installed and what is the version?

Thanks,

Katie

I am running Vista with SP1 and Avast Antivirus.  I have tried it with IE6 and the firefox 3.0.  I have rebooted the computer and uninstalled and re-installed family safety.

Hi menza,

I just sent you a Private Message.  You should be able to see the PM icon, a envelope image on the up right hand corner of the screen when you logged into the forum.

Thanks,

Hi menza,

Could you tell us what version number of Avast Antivirus you are using is?

Thanks,

Katie
