I just recently had to have a new user account created on my computer and deletion of my old account done by a Microsoft
Technician. Some kind of bug/virus got in and corrupted some of my information. I could not log into my Outlook.com
account on IE9. I could log in just after I upgraded from Hotmail to Outlook. Whatever corrupted my computer got in after I upgraded to Outlook. I rarely use Outlook main inbox as I prefer my Windows Live Essentials mail. That is why I was unaware of the problem for at least a couple of months after I upgraded to Outlook. I had Norton automatically doing scans all this time.
I was able to log in to Outlook using Google Chrome. The technician upgraded me to IE10 in my new user account.
Now everything is fixed, but my concern still remains. Was it something that got past my Norton AntiVirus/Spyware
detection that caused the original problem? It might happen again. I have had several versions of Windows and used
Norton Antivirus on all of them and never had this occur before. Whatever prompts I have gotten from Norton
regarding intrustions have always been fixed and I have been notified by a little pop-up on the right hand lower corner of
my computer screen of this.
My Tech also ran SUPERAntispyware and it found a PUP bug/virus and removed it. As I have no way to see what
spyware or viruses my computer is protected against with Norton, how do I know if Norton will remove this type of
bug in the future. I can't be totally certain that it was a PUP that caused my corruption, I simply don't know.. Now, I feel
that I have to run a scan twice every day, even with it set on automatic, when I get finished using my IE browser to try and prevent this from ever occurring again.
Please advise.
Thank you.
