What can I do to make windows internal explorer not slow my PC down?

On system mangement it always shows my explorer to be slowing my PC down as it's the only thing taking up power. WHat are some things I can do to prevent this? The only way I can usually fix it is to restart comp and I hate doing that.

Also I use NIS 2012 yet I am still having random times when my PC will be very slow all of a sudden. What can I do>?

Thanks.

Hello Austinn1.

If you are talking about Internet Explorer you could try to reset the settings to default. You can do this by opening Internet Explorer -> Click on Tools or the wrench in the top right corner -> Click on Internet Properties -> Click on the tab "Advanced" and the Reset in the bottom right corner. Restart Internet Explorer and see if the problem is solved or not.

If it is Windows Explorer you are talking about and you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can disable something called Desktop composition. (You will disable some visual effects such as transparency in the windows).

Open the start menu - > Right click on Computer -> Choose Properties -> Click on Advanced settings -> Untick the box next to Desktop composition -> Click Apply and OK and see if the problem is solved.

Yes I mean windows explorer. I use Firefox as a browser.

I did what you said but the only options under Advanced when I do that are -Performance, -User Profiles, and Startup and Recovery.

There is no box with desktop composition option. I use Windows 7.

ah found it. Meh it didn't make much of a diff. o well
