Let me start by saying I don’t know where else to post this.
I’ve been at this a while. I built my first computer in 1982 and built quite a few since then. I’ve been a loyal Norton customer since Windows 3.1. I loved it. It sat quietly in the background doing its thing. All you had to do was make sure your subscription was up to date for updates. You’d occasionally run full scans or run the Power Eraser. You felt safe. I’ve recommended Norton to dozens, if not hundreds of others. I’ve bought subscriptions for family because I felt like I was giving them a trusted partner to look over their shoulders when I couldn’t. Sure, you might have a brief problem installing a trusted app, but you just turned Norton off, did the install, then turned it back on. That was about it. But I will be retiring in a few months after 40 years in IT and I have to say I’ve had it with the current iteration of whatever is happening at Norton. They’ve definitely lost their way. Is all this why they left Symantec?
It started after I built my last server about 9 months ago. I use it for a multimedia server and as a central location to get to my files from a couple laptops and tablets on my local network. I got it up and running and confirmed access. All the app installations did their updates. Then I installed Norton and everything went south. The server worked just fine but I could no longer get access from my laptop. I thought it was Windows because, of course. I tried everything for months then turned off Norton. Access returned. I looked everywhere and actually got it to work for a day then it stopped. I chalked it up as a bug and kept Norton on waiting for a fix.
Then the nags started. Nags to buy more stuff. Even the Power Eraser has been discontinued to get you to spend $100. Then there are the nags to allow update access for every application, including NORTON ITSELF!!! These happen so often, I’ve gotten to where I click “yes” without even reading. Talk about risk!!!
Then yesterday, I started getting nags that links I clicked on were taking me to a different page. Duh. Do they know how the internet works? Of course it’s taking me to a new page, that’s why I clicked on the friggin link!!!
So I’ve had it. Today I will start researching for a new platform. I may not find it and if I do, I’m stuck till my renewal in December. The short term option may be to cancel everything Norton except for anti-virus. But I’ll look around, even at McAfee and Windows Security (electron gods help me). If I find a decent replacement, I may be taking my family with me. It’s certain that I won’t be recommending Norton to anyone. If you’ve read this far, thanks. What are your thoughts?

26.3.10886 (build 26.3.10886.978) eller 23.3 plus eller speciel du kan kalde den vad du vil det er en major miner der kun er bugfix i de fik en overraskelse over mega mange fejl de hade så de fandt ud af at de ikke kunne lave noget før at systemet var stabil igen men det er sat til 26.4 der bliver mega forsinket fordi de vil ha de tekniske fejl i den derfor laver de den her til de lette fejl så det er ok at forsinke 26.4 efter 26.4 som er en bugfix patch og en software opdater patch plus måske design så er den nemlig stabil og de kan putte mega mange nye ting i norton 360 så 26.5 til 26.7 kan få masser af nice ting uden at den er ustabil mere så glæd dig
det er 100% sandt alt sammen norton har godkendt det hele om du vil tro mig eller ej
hvis du vil ha lidt info om tingene så spørg bare hvis du kan tro på mig men det er der ikke mange der gør jeg tvang norton til at lave 26.4 som året big 26.4 var ikke planlagt som årets big det var 26.2 grunden til at den er blevet forsinket er at de fik flere giga fejl der var så store at du ikke fatter det derfor var 26.2 og 26.3 tam de blev kun bygget til at fixe de fejl som du ikke har en anelse om hvor store de var 1 var så store at den var over alle andre fejl så du kan se de blev ramt hårdt det er sandt alt sammen
26.3.10886 (build 26.3.10886.978) bliver nok på mellem 20 til 30 rettelser tror jeg minimum tæt på 20 fejl
Things were going downhill before 26 but it mostly worked. It’s an attitude change that we’re seeing all over, not just at Norton. If you WERE the reason for the mess we’re seeing, then thanks for REALLY f’ing things up. But I doubt you’re the reason for for all the sales prompts or the crappy code or the horrendous user interfaces we’re all seeing these days. I’m not saying the developers of my time created perfect software, but we understood the process - the whole process. But we wrote much better software, most of us anyway. We knew it was damn good because we spent the time to design it properly and to test the crap out of it before giving it to QA. We were proud of what we wrote. We challenged the QA folks to find bugs in our code. We did design reviews and code reviews. Sure they found an occasional bug and we rewarded them for it and learned how to make our code better. We knew the purpose of QA is Quality ASSURANCE, not testing. The difference now is that the 1 in 100 programmers who thought they were good enough that if it compiled, it was good and they could throw it over the fence to QA. That attitude no longer seems to be the exception. In 40 years, I’ve met 2 programmers who were good enough to do that, but they were also good enough to thoroughly test the snot out of everything they did.
ja men de fandt først det her slut 2025 der var så mange fejl i norton utilities og norton 360 at det fatter du ikke og det gjorde det hele var alle de fejl de kendte ikke en af de fejl jeg fandt dem alle i slut 2025 de fik en mega overraskelse så de gik i gang med at fixe alle fejl fra top til bund de er så store de fejl at de ikke kente dem når man ikke kender alle sine fejl kan du ikke lave noget og det var alle de fejl der gjorde det jeg kan ikke sige hvor mange fejl jeg er under nda men du vil ikke tro mig hvis jeg sagde det men det var mega mange det var det der gjorde det hele det er det norton 360 26.4 big skal rette og det er ikke små ting de retter det samme med norton utilities 26.33 det er også mega fejl de har der så nej det er ikke små fejl de har det er faktisk giga fejl det er derfor de vil ha alt stabil nu så de kan lege og gøre jer glad jeg vil sige en ting til dig som jeg må norton 360 26.5 til 26.7 skal du glæde dig mega meget til hvis du har norton utilities 26.4 der er dens big skal du glæde dig mega meget til den så har den ingen fejl den har mange nice ting så glæd dig der vil de lave alt om til jer så glæd jer mega meget
når de patche kommer så har de vendt hele deres problem da de har rettet mega meget mere end du tror de kan
ikke smide noget ud på noget der er ustabil det er dumt det er det de vil rette i de næste patche så alt bliver stabil og de kan rette alt op på ny tro mig de spøger ikke de tar det mega alvorligt med de patche
men om du tror på mig er jo op til dig hvis de gør den stabil igen kan de jo putte alt i norton 360 igen og gøre produktet super igen det er det jeg prøver at sige de arbejder på men ingen tror mig du kan allerede se de arbejder på det med 26.3 plus patchen
Men hvis i vil vide vad der gik galt er det let det var planlagt til alle muglige patche men så gik det bare galt 26.2 til 26.5 er alle blevet ramt af giga fejl i koden det er derfor alt er forsinket hvis de undgår alle de slemme fejl er det 26.6 men det er jo svært at sige det er derfor det er så slemt og skod som det er nu du kan ikke fix de fejl i har før giga fejlene og grund koden er stabil men 26.3 fixede ca 14 fejl så det er da på den rigtige vej men de fandt mega mange fejl før jul men de kan ikke fixde fejl før grundkoden er stabil eller at de teknisk fejl er ok det var derfor 26.5 kom men jeg tror det var overalt det gik galt
Og det er det der skete grunden til jeg er sikker er jeg fandt alle fejlene
Grunden til det nye design kom er jeg ikke 100% på men hvis jeg har ret er det fordi den gamle ikke var stabil i windows 11 det er jo et mega problem eller også er det fordi norton utilities skulle ha ny design så lavede de det over hele lingen så de kun hade et design til alle produckter og den var ustabil i windows 10 og 11
Men om i tror mig eller ej må i selv om men alt det der står der er sandt da mange af fejlene var fundet af mig minimum 80%
@Charles_Rush There aren’t any “fixes” coming for the issues we are all seeing as certain others posting would suggest. The days of quality assurance and testing are long gone. Marketing takes up more space within the user interface than much of anything else. Permeated within it to a level that has taken user controls away. The tone of the day is as with Microsoft. The catch word is now: what will be allowed vice what should be present.
Personally, I agree with your sentiment. Having used Norton from way back in the day as well, it has served me well. Vice the very infrequent issue that was easy enough to work around without long delays waiting on support. We didn’t have these forums where others with experience using the Norton products could assist with getting something done. The days of users being able to get the help needed are long gone. I joined these forums in 2013 because of a serious issue with my product, there were people who KNEW their stuff, worked with customers and we got all those issues looked at and corrected. FAST!! With the current products its a struggle assisting others, there appears to be too many “secrets” behind how things actually work to be able to help when needed. AI appears to be the catch me all solution, AI doesn’t care about how a product works or doesn’t. It is a part of the issue in itself. Telemetry vice solid developer skills is killing main street software companies. Long story I cannot post here lol.
Thanks for your post and most valid opinion as well. The current “bubble” software developers are in will be alike the dot com scenario was. Here today and gone faster than anyone could have imagined.

Du må sige vad du vil men jeg arbejder for norton så derfor ved jeg det er sandt plus jeg har de rigtige patch note så jeg ved det er sandt dem på siden er light de har fixet mange fejl flere end du kan se det er sikkert plus det startet i 25.12 og der omkring men det ved du ikke de har fået så mange fejl at vide at det fatter du ikke så sød løgn du siger de har fixet flere fejl end du ved men det må du selv om
jeg har info om chat og notifikations systemet der kommer info om det på siden om alt så glæd jeg de laver alt om så fejlene forsvinder stille og rolig de har sat notifications systemet til en 30-60 dage deadline men i får mere info snart

You can say whatever you want but I work for Norton so that’s why I know it’s true plus I have the right patch notes so I know it’s true the ones on the page are light they have fixed many bugs more than you can see that’s for sure plus it started on 25.12 and around but you don’t know that they have been told so many bugs that you don’t understand that such a sweet lie you say they have fixed more bugs than you know but you have to do that you

I have a suggestion for you, take it as you will. You need to immediately STOP making statements to the effect that you work for Norton. Doing so incites that you are an employee. We Guru’s and Leaders also help around the forums, we are NOT Norton employees. To state that we are would be a misrepresentation and violate the forums terms of usage. Thanks for your feedback.
