In practice w partner estore it's just the opposite. Renewal is more $.
caveat emptor
Nice to visit with you ;-)

bjm_ Hi,
I'm beginning to agree with everything that you're saying. I do not understand why Symantec are asking more $'s for those who are taking up their renewal offer, rather than going to their estore and purchasing there at a lower price.
One standard price I could understand, or a slightly lower price for someone who has already subscribed to a Norton product and wishes to renew the program.
Perhaps someone from Norton will explain the logic in this to us, please.
bjm_, I have learnt a great deal by reading about solutions to the problems written on these boards and I try to help out, where I feel I know the answers, usually having seen them previously, from people, such as yourself, who are willing to take the time to help those of us who are less knowledgeable.
Thank you for your help and suggestions.
Cheers,
drshlomo.
Bear in mind that these Forums were set up to deal with technical matters and while Norton Staff are very lenient they may take the line that marketing is outside their scope.
But the Norton Ideas Forum is where they do accept things like the same KEY for netbook as for standard versions which is borderline marketing.
See what comes up after the weekend.
Norton Virus Removal Insurance is a service we're now offering to some customers at checkout instead of the Download Insurance. For $6.99, you get a 1 year subscription to our Virus Removal team's services. This service is helpful if you're installing NIS or N360 for the first time on a system, or one that may already be infected and the malware is preventing the product from installing. Or prehaps you're renewing an expired subscription, and your machine is infected. This service would be helpful in getting your system cleared of the malware.
Normally, you would pay $99.99 for a malware removal service session. With Norton Virus Removal Insurance, we provide unlimited virus removals during that 1 year period, while your subscription is active.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions about Norton Virus Removal Insurance. Thanks!

Hi Tony
That is a fabulous deal
mdturner Hi,
I agree with you that this is an amazing idea and a wonderful way for someone to discover the power of Norton products, at a very small, almost insignificant price.
Is it available only when purchasing a subscription from Symantec or is it available separately?
Tony, the people at Symantec have really produced an amazing offer with this and I think it, and a full explanation of exactly what it entails, should be very prominently displayed on the web Site, as it has only arisen here almost by accident and then it was only understood when you yourself gave us the details.
It really is a fantastic offer and very generous at the price.
Cheers,
drshlomo.

huwyngr Hi,
Yes, in my enthusiasm about this, I had forgotten that part.
Thanks Hugh for reminding me.

Hi bjm_
1) It's currently only available to some customers at checkout when they renew their software through the Renewal Center. We don't have any other information on future availability. Currently, this option is only available to some renewals done through our online store. Thus, you would not receive any notifications about it at this time, and we don't have any information again on when/if it would/will change.
2) It's Sales Tax for the whole order.
