When I visit a website (for example usatodaydotcom) a message pops up. It asks: ”Do you want to trust the website “www.usatoday dot com” to use the “NortonInternetSecurityBF” plug-in?” Further, it says: “You can manage which websites you trust to use this plug-in in the Security pane of Safari preferences.”
In Safari preferences, I am given the option to: “Allow websites to use this plug-in …”
BUT there is this caveat at the bottom of that little window:
“‘NortonInternetSecurityBF’ does NOT support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins.
Websites using this plug-in may be able to access your personal documents and data.”
MY PROBLEM: Is the caveat telling me that:
- I am safer to “Allow websites to use this plug-in …”, or
- I am reducing my level of security if I allow websites to use the plug-in?
I have searched the Norton Support Community, and anywhere else I could find, and I cannot get a clear picture of just what NortonInternetSecurityBF does when it is allowed, and whether I am safer to allow (or NOT allow) a website to use it.
PLEASE HELP?
