What is ProcessLasso? Is it related in anyway to Norton Utilities Premium program?
I seem to have a recurring key in the registry that reappears after I delete it.
Following up here is what I did:
1/ Stopped NUP Real Boost from running
2/ Used Regedit to delete ProcessLasso key - key was is in software and was an empty key no value
3/ Ran CCleaner and waited for an hour - key did not reappear after several CCleaner registry runs
4/ Turned on Real Boost in NUP
5/ Found ProcessLasso key entry back in the registry immediately
Conclusion: NUP places that key in my registry for whatever reason
I have now excluded it from CCleaner
Thanks for all your help. I will continue my investigations and if I find something I will post back here.
Well that is very odd because I do have ProcessLasso + NUP installed and CCleaner only finds the registry key I posted above.
The key just showed up again in CCleaner even though I shut off Real Time Boost in NUP.
The exact wording in CCleaner is:
Obsolete software key ProcessLasso HKLM\Software\ProcessLasso
As I said I keep deleting it and it shows back up and I do not have any other remnants of ProcessLasso and never have had it on my machine. Some program is reissuing the key and I am not a good enough detective to find it. :)
Ah, now I see what you're concerned about.
What you are seeing is not related to Process Lasso. What you are seeing is a registry key (Park Control), right? I believe that is related to NUP Real-Time Boost, specifically CPU Optimiser.
That registry key will be recreated automatically so you should either ignore it, or add it as an exclusion.
All that said, there really isn't any need to 'clean' a machines registry.
Thank you all for the info.
The reason I asked whether Norton Utilities Premium was somehow related to ProcessLasso was that this registry key showed up shortly after I installed NUP. Since they both have some process functions of CPU utilization and the like do you think NUP has some code originally designed by ProcessLasso in it?
I have shutoff the Real Time Boost of NUP and will watch to see if the registry key shows up or not. I do not have any program called ProcessLasso on my machine and never have. The key that shows up is caught by CCleaner as an obsolete software key.
Here is the first thread linked in the first post of the thread I linked above.
In my note to you I said:
I use an App called Roku Uninstaller which is absolutely amazing -- it begins by running the apps own uninstaller and then asks you if you want Roku Uninstaller to look for what is left behind.
which was a silly misake due to my just dealing with a query about Roku in another forum.
It should be REVO Uninstaller .....
which you can find at:
https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-free/
Sorry about that -- it's a useful tool to have.
Krusty13:... Or you can search these forums.
If like that poster, you can understand what that all means!

Google is your friend. ProcessLasso is one more attempt to micromanage Windows which in the experience of many is wasted time.
My advice would be to uninstall it and get rid of all traces of it but how you do more than Uninstall in Windows itself which should trigger ProcessLasso's own uninstall routine depends on how techie minded you are!
I use an App called Roku Uninstaller which is absolutely amazing -- it begins by running the apps own uninstaller and then asks you if you want Roku Uninstaller to look for what is left behind. That list can be amazing and I've never suffered from saying Yes please uninstall/delete what Roku has found (you have to click on a mark and then click on Delete.
But if you don't want to mess around with techie stuff then just ignore ProcessLasso.
Do you know how you got it? My guess is you allowed an app to install that offered a whole bunch of little apps that would make your computer run better!
