I'm from Denmark and therefore the prices listed below is in Danish kroner and not $, but the problem is probably the same worldwide.
I have been a loyal Norton customer all my life and always relied on the company. I am about to renew my Norton 360 subscription and clicked therefore into the Norton website. I found the price of dkr. 699, -.
Then I clicked on another link where I found a special offer for preferred customers at dkr. 649, -, representing a saving of 50, -.
I clicked a little further and found a new page with the same price but without NO special offers for loyal customers. So a price everyone can by the product for.
I clicked again a little further on Norton website and then found a page where anyone and everyone (new and old customers) can buy Norton 360 for only dkr. 524,25 -.
I feel a little cheated and deceived with all these different prices, and more or less truthful offers, all available on Norton's own website.
If I search a little longer, I can probably find an even lower price!
The best description for Norton prices on line on their websites is chaotic .....
Since you purchased and then found a lower price, get back onto the Norton OnLine Support via the CHAT route as below and ask them to honor the lower price and pass a rebate to your credit card.
I'm pretty sure they will do this but if not and you want to then insist on them cancelling the purchase since they have a 60 day satisfaction warranty and then you can purchase again at the lower price .....
Or if the market in Denmark is like here, check the retailers who sell Norton for discounted prices with rebates that end up way lower than Norton direct. Check the internet for legitimate sources like Amazon (Google indicates that Amazon UK covers Denmark) but beware of scams on the internet since we do get reports of people ending up with used or invalid keys.
Note that the year does not matter since you can use a valid key to activate earlier or later versions (with a temporary glitch that some users are finding that the 2013 keys to not work backwards but Norton support will resolve that quickly if you run into it.)
Thank you for your extensive and very detailed proposals. I appreciate that very much.
I have followed your advice about contacting Norton through the CHAT and they were kind enough to give me extra 6 months on top.
You are right, that it often pays to deal with a local business instead of Norton directly, but it would be easier to extend a period directly through Norton.
Thank you very much again for your interest and helpfulness.
I'm glad to hear it was sorted out to your satisfaction by the Norton OnLine Support Team .....we do hear good reports from users especially on subscription / activation problems.
You know where to find us if we can help on any technical matters.
