What is the risk visiting a website that has been attacked and disabled for a few days, twice in the last year?

I mainly read information there, but may post a comment or question on a blog. Is there risk in that?

For purchasing, one is taken to what appears to be paypal. FireFox shows www.paypal.com with a lock in the lower right corner. Also the address bar lists “P PayPal Inc. (US)” before their URL.  At this point, I’m planning on doing purchases by snail mail.

This website is located in the USA and run by a person well-known in their field, whom I believe is reputable.

I’m running NIS 2009, XP Pro, and FireFox (or IE7), all of which I keep updated.  I normally access the internet through a router.

I am very happy with NIS and this question is not an expression of anything negative about the product. I’m simply trying to be cautious; as I have read warning about not visiting risky websites (I don’t let my kids use my PC either). The idea of having to rebuild my PC after a virus or something is unbearable.

Does this sound like a risky website to visit?  Are there questions I should ask the owner about the nature of the attacks?

Thanks in advance for advice.
