I just re-installed Vista OS on a new HDD from Vista 32 bit DVD factory restore.
It installed Norton. I have opened every item on every menu and thet is nothing that will:
Give me the version number, and kind of Norton (Basic, Internet Security, 360, or 360) it is. Could be as old as most Snopes warnings, or as new as yesterday - no idea.
It installed a huge green Tool Bar in IE "Fraud Monitoring is on". OK, but every Tom, Dick and Harry web site wants to put their tool bar. If we allow it, there would be no room to view the Internet! There is no visible option to simply hide the ugly green thing. Nor, is there any ":Norton" anything in the View > Toolbars except a greyed out "Show Norton Toolbar" - that, is another bar I can do with out. There is no option under Tools to "hide" - just disable addons. Do I have to disable Norton to get rid of the surplus Norton -stuff- in IE?
I don't want to disable them, I just don't need another toolbar getting in my face all the time.
Googoyle answers are the A-typical stupid ones (like, get AVG, get....)
Computers were supposed to make things work faster - not wait longer to make it work.
Once you determine the version you have - my guess would be somewhere round 2007 vintage, as it has been a long long time since I have seen the green Fraud Monitoriing bar, I would suggest that you upgrade to the latest version you had a valid license for. Let us know what you have now and someone will be glad to let you know how to go about the upgrade.
