Since I starting using this product many years ago Norton have changed the product and keep adding or modifying product to make it more complicated and push you in the direction to buy this buy that.
The latest is the removal of local backup. Forcing you to want to buy more cloud space.
I am investigating alternative product because this is now crap. I can not restore from my local backup, Good bye Norton and good ridden.
Same here… I’m still on v22 with subscription till Nov next year, and I thought let’s stay this way and wait until maybe v25 will improve and be as user friendly as it used to be for years… but… having followed the threads on this board I’m losing hope. Not only because of the beta state of this product but also the policy of Norton or whoever owns it now. They treat us as guinea pigs, they push unneeded and unwanted products like NU…(who needs this cr@p anyway?) to drain us with money… and so on… I think of BitDefender as an alternative considering reviews and users’ opinions…Enough is enough…
Yes Bitdefender looks the go.
Bitdefender gets my vote - I swapped over to it a few weeks ago on my main machine and its so refreshing not to be spammed with ads every time I open it.
I’m on here looking for alternatives because i no longer like the product. Was a customer in the late 90’s and early 00’s and dropped Norton when they got bloated.
After the product revamp around 2009 i’ve been a customer ever since with a lot of licenses of my machines and non tech savvy family i manage.
They have really destroyed this product which is such a shame because it was best on the market. I guess their userbase will just end up as older folk who get upsold Norton when buying a new computer, then they get caught in a subscription loop they don’t know how to get out of.
I understand your frustration. I receive frequent messages to buy more products such as their anti-tracking but when I need support on issues like software updates already in my package, there is no support. I will be joining you in getting rid of Norton. It is too costly for a product that creates problems but doesn’t solve them
All: Personally I still recommend reverting to version 22.24.8.36 and allow Norton to get this right or show in a definite way that cannot be seen as otherwise, that they won’t. I have all my devices reverted vice one on version 25.xx to track its progress. If interested I can give you the steps to revert, stay reverted and keep virus definitions updated. Caveat : I do not get all the sell-up trash either.
Edited: Here are the instructions for reverting if anyone is interested
