When VPN on, unable to sign OUT of online bank

Not sure if anyone might have an answer for this odd situation that a relative just ran into.  She has Norton 360, Windows 10 and always uses the VPN.  Never had problem with VPN until the past month or so.  Problem only seems to affect online banking.  She's able to sign in without any problem, get her statements.  BUT when she signs out (or tries to sign out) page freezes -- bank site does not complete sign out.  She's contacted her bank about issue but they see no problems.  On the other hand, if she turns VPN off, she's able to sign into bank and then sign out of bank with no problem; no page freeze.  I know that banks are upping their security, but this seems really weird that the issue is not signing in, but instead is an issue of signing out of the online account.  Anyone heard of such an issue?

One addl note:  She tried with both Chrome and Firefox, and same thing happened; so doesn't seem to be a browser issue.  Thanks.

SafeWeb was on but I just checked and Banking protection was unchecked. I'll try MandT again and see if that fixes it. Will post result. Thanks

Personally, I'd use Safe Web Online Banking Protection and not use Norton 360 Secure VPN.
Respectfully, I don't know why you'd want to hide your location from your bank.

Online billpay with MandT Bank problem. I can login and enter the bill info but after I submit it, Norton VPN stops the return confirmation to me. The billpay used to work fine with Norton VPN. If I turn off the VPN my billpay works fine. Its not a browser or computer problem- I've used two computers and different browsers- same problem. Must I turn off VPN now before using billpay?

Curious, are you running Norton Safe Web -> Online Banking Protection?

Thanks all.

Thanks for taking the time to give your input.  Much appreciated.  Have a great weekend.

This may not be helpful to your friend's situation but I have had issues also with online banking.

Using Norton's banking protection under Safe Web functions much like a VPN and sends the data to a Norton server first encrypted in an outer shell and then on to the bank site in an encrypted formatted stripped of the outer shell. When I have clicked on a link at the bank like "show account #1 balance" I would get the balance from account #2. Something was off kilter. Same was true for other links I clicked within my bank web page.

The bank said their site was operating normally and had no issues. Without the banking protection everything was fine. I assume it is a combined issue between the bank and Norton. Maybe something was occurring in the stripping of the outer shell on the way to and from the Norton server.

Also, I have found some differences when using the mobile format of the bank website but of course that is a different piece of programming.

I know it can be frustrating because each side denies any wrongdoing so I have stopped using the banking protection from Norton. I have had similar issues with banking protection off and using the VPN.
