When will Norton Family support ipad / iphone monitoring?
I thought this was included with Norton Family Premier and after looking at details it is only the Parental View application, not the actual monitoring / blocking functionality.
KatieQ -> can you provide any guidance on if this will happen?? want to determine whether to pay for some other parental control software for iPhone 4S
Could we please get an update on the progress of a monitoring app for the iPod as well?
It's great that I could monitor activity from an iPhone or an Android phone (too bad I have a Blackberry), but the major hole in my home network security right now is my kids' iPod Touch devices. Other than obtrusively monitoring (and I'm not beyond that), I have no idea what my two "tweenagers" are doing on their Touch devices. I'm sure I'm not the only Safety Minder user with this issue.
I just re-installed Safety Minder on our computers...get me the ability to monitor iPods and you may have finally convinced me to be a paying customer.
Arrgh - we used Norton Online Family on our daughter's droid, worked well. Yesterday I renewed our Premier account, but I mistakenly thought the iphone app could be used to monitor our daughter's new iphone. Reviewing the MANY posts in this forum, I am trying to decide whether to contact customer support to ask for a refund (our renewal date = 5/17/13). While I love being able to monitor her use of our computers, being able to monitor her phone is a more urgent problem.
Norton has apparently been "researching" for more than a year, and still cannot give consumers a projected release date, or even a firm commitment to develop an app similar to the one for the droid. Guess I have one day to make a decision...
I also am disappointed with the lack of iOS support. I think Symantec should be more explicit on what you get (and more importantly don’t get for Apple I devices). You need to pay a great deal of attention to the footnotes associated to capabilities for mobile devices to know what’s what.
IPad's can be somewhat secured with restrictions but the browser really can't be used without some kind of monitoring software.
Youtube can be accessed in too many ways through various apps not just the standard "Youtube" app. I had to shut down "Installing apps" in the restrictions menu so I could review new apps they want to install. Be wary of the "Google Search" app as it allows them to go to lots of Google associated apps including youtube.
