After the NIS 2009 install, I have noticed that any Logins available before are now gone. In addition, the information can not be saved again.
For example - I use Gmail and have a few different addresses. Before NIS 2009, I could begin typing in the Login Box and a drop-down selection would appear. That's completely GONE and when I entered acct. info, it did NOT save a new selection list. ...sigh...
I'm no "spring chicken" and it was nice not having to remember and/or always look up in a binder for any information I needed.
Maybe it didn't upgraded the identity safe settings well during the install. Before install it is alway necessary to save a back-up of them (from identity safe settings).
The only thing you can do now, is uninstall norton, remove everything with the norton removal tool (NRT), and then reinstall nis, and save your logins again.
There is a possibility of the identity safe profiles being lost when you installed NIS 2009 as PapauZ suggested. But, I don't think even uninstall/reinstall can resolve the problem, if all the identity Safe profile information got removed from your computer during the installation of NIS 2009.
Try to log in to Identity Safe first and check whether the log-ins re-appear. Click Settings in the Identity pane. Under Identity Safe, click Configure near Log in to Identity Safe.
If not, you may need to configure Identity Safe from the very first by re-entering each log ins and saving those information. Refer to the instructions in this LINK.
Oh gosh ... I don't understand what this "Identity safe" thing is.
I have only had NIS 2009 for 2 or 3 days now ... don't have a clue what I'm doing.
When the identity thing first appeared, I just closed it because I didn't know what the heck to do LOL Also,I was thinking it would use the same login information on the page each time. Well, in the case of email, I have many logins.
Thank you for trying to help me and for your patience. I am so very lost with this latest version.
Oh and you think maybe my installation didn't work correctly because my information in various sites wasn't saved? ugh
Forgot to say ... thanks Yogesh for the link to the instructions. I will try that. I still don't understand what it all is, but I will sooner or later.
Were you using any other Norton product prior to the installation of NIS 2009? I do not think so. I think you are mentioning about the Saved Passwords in IE. Can you please clarify this? If it is the IE passwords, then you would have received a prompt to import those passwords when you setup Identity safe for the first time. Did you click yes when prompted? Please provide more information on this.

Hi Vineeth -
I must say when I DL the NIS 2009, I just 'assumed' things would go smoothly. When I saw the identity safe I completely was out of my element. Now I am afraid whatever I did is keeping it from working. I'm one of those that when you see something and don't know what it is ... hit cancel or hit no.
We previously had NIS 2008 - I don't recall any sort of password-keeping area such as what's in 2009 issue.
Yes, I am speaking of Logins saved in IE. My husband also has a set of passwords - our WinXP is set up with multiple-user account areas.
Okay - I toyed with it a bit and even though I can no "import" what I had in IE, I am doing okay with adding various email logins. I've even "organized" them by making a folder for those email accounts.
Now I will have to 'save' my husband before he freaks out and says "what the heck is this" when he uses the computer next. Hopefully I will remember about the IMPORT option ... cause once you "ignore" that, apparently you can't go back easily.
You do know that you only have to put in your password for indentity safe once? It will safe all your passwords for websites automatically and you will be safe.
Yes, I do know *now* that I enter one PW into Identity Safe. After adding my Gmail info, I am actually quite pleased with this new feature (it's new to me anyway).
Not sure if I will be setting it up for my husbands "area" of our PC ... he can never remember to Log Out of things ... he just closes the browser. LOL
