my desktop is white, I can't show my background images. The properties box for the white background shows file: //C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger\index.htm and I want to know how to get rid of this. Anybody have a solution?

I have also lost parts of my start menu, the my computer icon, AND I now can't print with my Brother HL-2040 printer b/c it says that I have no printers on my computer anymore and when I try it says that the printer spooler service is not available.

Can someone please help me solve the problem?

I do not know which Norton product I am using, I am using Windows 98 and I believe service pack 2.

If you have any Norton product on your system it should be easily identifiable through Start > All Programs. Or are you saying you have no security protection?

The All Programs icon has disappeared! so has the my computer icon in the start menu.  I am so lost.

Are you able to start up in safe mode?

That way you could try to run a full scan in safe mode and check for malware

Which Norton Product are you using and are the virus definitions completely up to date?  Have you run a full Norton scan in Safe Mode?

Are you running Windows XP or Vista?  Which Service Pack?
