Hi. Simple question (I hope). And I couldn’t find any relevant posts addressing this by using the forum’s Search function, so please pardon me if I’m making a redundant post… I use a particular website (search engine) that only works properly if I temporarily disable Norton Antivirus (the Auto-Protect feature is what causes the conflict, I’m pretty sure). As this is both dangerous and annoying to have to do all the time, I’m wondering if there is a way I can whitelist the site, letting Norton know that I trust it. Thanks in advance for your help!

OK, but I think I was kindof misleading. The site does work, just not completely the way it does with the protection turned off.
I can perform a first search using the site, getting results as I ought to. But then if I try to enter a new search in the same window/tab, and hit Enter, the page just refreshes itself (with the same results from the original search). If instead I reload the search page (not just 'refresh' it), I can then perform another search successfully.
This is a search site that's a subsidiary of Yahoo, only for each search I perform it donates money to a particular charity of my choosing. With that in mind, I've tried just using regular Yahoo to see if I had the same problem there too. But no, it works fine. And this problem only developed within the last month or so. Prior to that it allowed me to perform as many subsequent searches as I wanted.
So I'm concluding that the conflict must've arisen due to recent behind-the-scenes updates to either that site or to Norton. (And more likely Norton, because A) I've already voiced my problem to tech support for that site and they hadn't heard of any such problems; and B) this same search site works fine on other computers.)
...Hoping my more thorough explanation can help someone diagnose my problem (and solution). Thanks!
Hello sbutk,
1) Can you provide the URL of the search site you are visiting ? And what are you trying to search ?
2) What browser (and version) are you using ?
3) Can you disable only SONAR first and try searching ? (instead of disabling AutoProtect)
4) Can you disable only Download Insight Protection and then try searching ?
Thanks,
Snehansh
Hmm. I was all set to start answering your questions, when I decided to test the site's operation again to make sure I could reproduce the symptom. To my surprise, THE PROBLEM RESOLVED ITSELF. ...Well, I'm not *entirely* surprised, I guess. I noticed that the site's fonts and overall appearance have changed. So it's very likely that whatever other updates were performed behind the scenes addressed the compatibility problem I was having. Thanks anyway!
...And thanks to everyone else who answered my post. :)
