Why Can't Norton Just Make a Clear Public Statement to Dispel All the Bad Vibes?

From what I have read it appears that if you have an existing Norton License, if you buy NS, the time remaining on your current license will be added to your NS license which is nearly the same as a free upgrade except you have to buy your next year's subscription in advance. That's not a bad deal.

Why all the mystery and secrecy Norton??? Just say it. Make it clear (some customer service  reps are apparently not aware of this.)

Why generate all these negative customer feelings when a simple, clear, official statement would work wonders for Norton's public image with it's customer base ?

(Unless I am wrong about this.)
