Why do I still get adware invasions after running all the Norton 360 Premier scans?

I have Norton 360 Premier and continually get invasions from Adware that want to clean my registry or clean up my pc and take over home pages and slow up or even shut down the laptop. i have run all the Norton scans live updates and the Eraser but they are just not picking up these trojans. I have just renewed my licence with orton but if this situation cannot be resolved i will have to look for an alternative as this is unacceptable. Please advise if there is anything else i should do?

Many or all adware comes under the name of Possibly Unwanted Programs. While they are annoying, they do not cause damage to your system. Some people actually want the 'Features' offered by these programs.

Norton products concentrate on malware that can damage your system, that is why PUPs are not detected.

No one security program can protect you from 100% of the tens of thousands of malware variants released every day 100% of the time. That is why we suggest secondary on demand scans for adware using Free versions of programs like SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes.

If you go that route (malwarebytes, superantispyware, etc.) make sure you stick with the free versions. Their paid subscriptions include real-time scanning functionality like Norton's, and having two real-time security programs installed at the same time (to say nothing of running simultaneously) paradoxically reduces your effective protection. The free versions don't have those functions, which is what makes them safe to use this way.

P.S. Note, too, that a lot of adware/PUPs sneak onto our systems as "free utilities" (especially toolbars) that pay software we actually want to install (like games, etc.) to bundle them with their products. At most, you may get a chance to "uncheck" a box on some screen midway through the install process--which makes it really easy, if you just click through all those annoying screens as fast as you can like most of us do, to invite the dang things past your Norton (or other) protection. Caveat emptor....
