Why does nortons always want to login sign in every time l turn pc on?

l have an account but do not wish to login all the time is there a way to turn it off?

Hi EagleOne,

Welcome to the community!

To confirm, are you referring to the login prompt for registering your product with Norton account.

Thanks,

HI EagleOne,

Welcome to the Norton Community. Which Norton product and version do you have? You can find the version from Help & Support > About or Support > About depending on the product and year. Also what OS and SP (service pack) do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?

I believe you are referring to Identity Safe.

If so you can change this from Settings > Web Settings > Identity Safe > Identity Safe Password & Security. You probably have the "Ask for my password at the beginning of each Login session" checked.

Check the option below that instead "Ask for my password before filling out a Login".

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Hi EagleOne,

One thing to note is that checking the option I mentioned in my last post will prompt you for your ID safe password each time you visit a web page with a login.

The option "Ask for password at the beginning of each Login session" is really the most ideal choice for most people and it should not ask for password until you access a web page with a login. From that point on it should not prompt you again for that Windows session.

You could select the bottom option "no password needed" but this is less secure.

Best wishes.

Allen

thx but its not what ur refering to as l have set that not to ask me for password and autofill option its this sign on to nortons homepage here https://www.mynortonaccount.com/amsweb/default.do?product_lang=EN this is what its asks me to sign in everytime l start my pc and start surfing or when l go to use or check info of norton internet security.

l was running norton internet security 2009 or 2010 then l got a new mother board as my previous got replaced and in that package was 2011 ver Version: 18.5.0.125, l am running win 7 64bit 6gb ram with all latest updates up to date of windows.

Hi EagleOne,

Venkat asked about whether you were referring to your Norton Account before and you said no. :smileywink:

On the bottom of the main NIS interface what do you see for days remaining in your subscription? See if it mentions trial also.

After checking that, please go to Support > Subscription Status so that NIS can sync up with the Symantec servers. Then restart the computer and see if the problem still occurs.

You said you got a new motherboard and NIS 2011 was in that package. Can you expand on this a little? Do you mean that NIS 2011 CD came with the mother board or what? Or did you get a whole new computer which came with NIS 2011 already installed? If the latter, then NIS 2011 would need to be activated using the Norton Account which you used with the subscription originally. You did mention new PC in an earlier post.

So also check your Norton Account and see how many computers your subscription is good for and then check number of activations remaining to see if this is correct. If you did get a replacement computer then you will probably have one less activation remaining than you should have because the Symantec server would not know that the other computer is no longer there. If this is the case you can contact Customer Service by Chat and they will take care of this.

Best wishes.

Hi EagleOne,

What browser are you using?  If Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options.  Under "Homepage" is it showing Mynortonaccount.com?

I thought about that but the description sounds like a subscription thing when a new PC is mentioned. :smileywink:

As l thought it was not a subscription problem as l have an account l thought it was nothing to do with that my mistake, l am using Firefox latest ver, what l think my problem is that when l got my new pc l used my Gigabyte motherboard cd with NIS on it for the 90 days, then my mother board was playing up so l got it replaced and it also came with NIS with the Gigabyte motherboard cd so when my first 90dyas ran out l thought l would load my second cd and l think its gotten confuse as l went to do what u said and subscribe it it killed my NIS, so now l would like to say thank u for all ur help, l might just go back to my ESET as its more user friendly in the sense of NIS was giving my alot of false positives on games and apps l know are safe and when it would tell me about these problems every time l loaded up pc the only option there was delete, what l would like to see there is more options there in the pull down like set this as safe and not scan anymore, as l notice when it gives me the message, l hv to click on it go ti info then go to options and then click to restore and not to scan it and a few of the times that option is not there just only delete, wish there was just a right click to do this would be good, l really like NIS but some things like what l just wrote is not so user friendly where u hv to go here and there to fix it and sometimes l could not fix it and had to go into settings and exclude alot apps which was a pain, l used to be a big fan and user years ago of all Norton products but at that time the old NIS was a hog l know now its not and works very good, but as l said when l had those problems yrs ago l found ESET and been using it for yrs until l got my new pc with NIS in it, so l thought would give it a go. but once again thank u for all ur valuable time Paul :D
