Hello! I am a Norton 360 trial user and need some help! When I run a diagnostic scan the program tells me that my computer has disk errors and a chkdsk needs to be run. However when I log off and re-boot Windows a chkdsk doesnt automatically run? And when I go to the "run" option and type in chkdsk nothing happens? I cant find a "chkdsk" option in the program itself...so what do I do? Thanks!
Hi Babybsmom,
Welcome to Norton Community!
Chkdsk is a Microsoft Utility which needs to be run separately. Please make sure that you follow the steps as given in the following Symantec KB:
http://service1.symantec.com/support/powerquest.nsf/docid/2004066687571562
Let us know if you are able to do so.

Thank you for replying to my problem! However when I tried to do it as you listed---I got a message which read: Access denied as you do not have sufficient priviledges. You have to invoke this utility running in an elevated mode" Ok--I am stumped again! Can you pls help me one more time? Thanks--Diane
1. Click the Start button.
2. Go to All Programs > Accessories.
3. Right-click on Command prompt, and select Run as Administrator. If prompted, enter your Administrator login credentials.
4. In the command prompt window, type cd\ and press Enter.
5. In the command prompt window, type chkdsk /f and press Enter.
6. If you are prompted to schedule CHKDSK to run the next time the computer restarts, type Y and press Enter.
7. Restart the computer.

Try this:
Click Start > All programs > Accessories > and then right click Command Prompt and then click Run as administrator. Then follow the steps in the link that Yogesh gave you.
