Why is my Norton Desktop popping up late in the day every day now

Over the last:few days my Norton desktop has popped up late in the evening on it’s own when the PC has been idle for some time. The only thing I can detect is that is says a Microsoft WiFi driver is out of date but other than that no other reason for it to be popping up. I do not want to subscribe to Norton’s driver update service and I’ve checked Microsoft Update and it’s telling me that there are no updates to install. How do I make this pop up behavior stop?

I’m hoping that I solved my popup issue so I’ll update this again later. The only thing that stuck out on my pop-up was that Norton was telling me that my WiFi driver was out of date and of course they wanted to upsell me on a driver update maintenance plan that for me is an AP (Ain’t Paying). I had time to investigate this today and went into Device Manager, found the WiFi adapter, got all the details from properties and went hunting for my Intel WiFi 6E AX211 driver which I found on Intel’s driver website and sure enough the old driver was from 9/9/2025 and the updated driver available was from 6/11/2026 so that driver got updated and hopefully this will stop the nag from displaying later tonight.

That being said, this whole thing sucks not only for me but for everyone else that’s getting a pop-up. Usually software that constantly nags me gets tossed in the bit bucket and I find something else that’s usually better and it did cross my mind to uninstall Norton and go with Windows Defender but I just paid for a renewal. What really tripped my trigger is the fact that there’s no way to turn off a driver scan, no way to enter an exception, no service to disable, etc. and you’re not a bit technically savvy you have to live with the popup nag. This just reeks of Norton being more interested in increasing their bottom line with no regard to their customers. It’s pay up now bucko or we’re going to nag you till do.

fwiw ~ my understanding:
Norton released a backend fix for the Automatic UI Opening issue. Please run LiveUpdate and Restart the system to get the fix applied.
