I got an email the other day about my subscription was renewed automatically on my credit card. I had let it lapse and was looking into cheaper alternatives and had actually installed some. But when it seems that they already billed my cc, I thought, what the hell, I'll keep it and update the software, which I did. Now when I put on the computer, which is a laptop, I get an error message:
Norton Download Manager
"The download manager requires administrator privileges to download and install the product"
Also it says I have 29 days left on my trial period. Now why am I being billed on my cc $77 dollars for a trial period??

Hi texastoyz,
How did you update your Norton software? Also, did you thoroughly uninstall the other antivirus software you installed during the time period you were not protected with Norton? You usually need to run the vendor's removal tool which ensure a thorough uninstallation.
Finally, in order to turn your trial version into a full version, you have to type your Norton product key into your Norton product - otherwise, it will remain a trial version. You can fetch your Norton product key from your Norton account:
http://www.mynortonaccount.com/
In order to type in your code, open Norton 360 and on the main interface, click on "Renew" (on the lower margin of the main interface next to the Norton logo). A new window will appear, and there will be a white slot where you can type in your product key.
If you still experience problems, please contact Symantec Customer Service at the link below (for US and Canada); you can use the chat feature for free; customer support is in charge of subscription and activation issues and is usually able to solve said issues quite quickly:

Hi Texastoyz,
Welcome to Norton Community!
Better contact Customer Support as this includes Automatic Renewal, you can do Online Chat and get it resolved:

The Download Manager error can happen if you don't have Administrator privialges for your user account. You may need to log off from your user account, and login as an Administrator user in order to download and install Norton 360.
