Why should I need to run live update manually and other issues with NIS 2010

Hi,

Why does Norton always try to grab your attention with things that you really shouldnt need to know about?  For example, if my computer has been off for a week i get a message popup saying - WARNING your definitions are out of date etc forcing you to goto your Norton Internet Secuirty control panel, run Live update etc to keep it happy.

Couldnt it simply realise its out of date, try to update itself without bothering me and then if it fails, and only if it fails, update me with a popup?

Why should i need to goto the control panel and run live update manually?

Additionally, i really hate the scareware popups that Norton has, the ones where it pops up in a big red box to let you know that during an idle scan its found a threat, so you click on it, look through the logs and oh, its a tracking cookie.

Come on, delete it and move on, do i really care?  If i had a virus or a trojan etc then yeah, let me know, but a tracking cookie - no need.

It seems to me like the program is designed to interupt you once in a while to remind you its there, jumping up and down like a spoilt kid to get your attention.  There no need for these popups or information to be presented.
