Why won't Norton Safe Search install in Norton Private Browser?

I changed my default to Norton Private Browser. Under Browser Extensions, Norton Home Page is installed, but Norton Safe Search is not installed. I click install and it states that Norton Home Page, Safe Search and Safe Web are installed. When I go back to Browser Extensions it still states uninstalled with the option to install still showing. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all show Norton Home Page and Norton Safe Search installed. Should I just go back to using Firefox?

Norton Private Browser v146.0.34394.179
Note: Norton Password Manager is Pre-installed

bjm,

I have tried everything you suggested including uninstalling and reinstalling Norton Private Browser. It keeps telling me all extensions are installed, but when I look at Security in Norton 360, Norton Safe Search is still not installed for Norton Private Browser. When Norton Private Browser is my default it makes even getting into my email time consuming. My password isn’t enough, it wants to send me a confirmation code to my cell phone. I have a Tracfone, but for the most part it is only on when I, or my wife, are out of the house, or when we have to make a long distance phone call. Maybe just using a private Firefox window wouldn’t be easier. I don’t think it is worth trying any farther with it.

Thanks for your reply,

cv

Oh okay. So, at Norton Private Browser. Do you find Norton Safe Search installed & enabled?

I opened Norton Private Browser; looked under Extensions, and it shows Norton Home Page open along with Norton Password Manager, Coupons, and Video Downloader. I don’t use the last 3, so I turned them off. Did you see the edit including the screenshot? I didn’t know if you saw it prior to responding.

Do you find Norton Safe Search installed & enabled & pinned?

btw ~
Norton Private Browser does not need to be set as your default browser.
Note: Edge is my default browser and Chrome is my daily rider.

And disable Norton Private Browser launch when your computer starts (if you want)

And disable Sponsored Content (if you want)

And disable (if you want)

I opened Norton Private Browser and looked at Extensions, Chrome Web Store, Norton Addons, and looked at the shield icon at upper right of the screen and don’t see “Norton Safe Search installed & enabled & pinned”. Where do I find this statement?

fwiw ~ my Norton Private Browser

I did go to the Chrome Wed Store, but it keeps addressing adding extension to Chrome. I already have Safe Search added to Firefox, Edge and Chrome. The problem is that I can’t find the Safe Search in Norton Private Browser.

Hello @nychucky
Please try using Chrome store to install Norton Safe Search in Norton Private Browser.

Norton Private Browser accepts extensions from the Chrome Web Store. This is because the browser is built on Chromium, the same open-source engine used by Google Chrome, which makes it compatible with most standard Chrome extensions.

Hello @nychucky
Please try using https://search.norton.com/protect to install Norton extensions in Norton Private Browser (any supported browser)

Note:
Norton 360 Safe Web engine and Norton Private Browser Web Shield were already aligned. Recent updates have extended that alignment to the Norton Safe Web portal and browser extension, with all now using a shared backend reputation database. Classifications should generally match, though real-time detection may still introduce occasional differences.

bjm,

The last link worked. I do appreciate the time you spent this time and in the past to help me. Enclosed screenshots will show the success. (I don’t see your last post, but it was the “https://search.norton.com/protect” that solved it.)

Thanks again for all your time and effort,
