You can visit Symantec Online Shop in HK via link below.
http://www.symantec.com/en/hk/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=new-2008
Or you can visit : http://www.symantec.com/index.jsp in USA. for purchase of NIS2009.
Please note that the HK website still has version 2008. But the USA or other English sites has the latest Version of NIS (NIS2009).
If you are in Hong Kong, you can also go to the Computer Centre to buy a retail copy of NIS.
Hope this helps.
Thank you
I would strongly recommend that you wait until the symantec Online Store for Hong Kong Release N.I.S. 2009, or the shops Release it; it should be Release quite soon.
How many Days are left on your Subscription?
You will be able to use 2008 for now and upgrade for free when v2009 is released

I suggested this to another person.
Go to ebay>Buy a Norton Internet Security 2006 license for next to zero>Use that key for NIS 2009, since 2006 keys work with 2009. That way, you will be getting a dirt cheap subscription of 2009.

Here's the problem: you have NO WAY of knowing if that key has ever been used before. Since the subscription doesn't stop when it has been uninstalled, unless the key was first used within the past year, you paid good money for a bunch of useless letters and numbers.

Brilliant.
If everyone took this kind of advice, Symantec would not be able to continually provide innovative products.
R&D takes money and the results are well illustrated in NIS 2009.
There are free "security programs" (term used loosely) available for those who don't want to pay.
Actually, Phil, it won't play out like that. I thought the same thing at first and then did the math.
It's probably why Symantec is taking the subscription route for its products rather than the as-long-as-you-use-it route.
What happens is, any key has to be paid for at some point. It has a limited lifespan and a limited number of machines on which it can be used. Symantec is generous and allows around 6 to 12 installations before it balks and refuses to install any more. If some really wanted to rip off Symantec, they could put one 3 license machine on probably 12 machines (representing a 75% price saving), but they better not need to ever reinstall. And even so, in this worst case, Symantec is still probably doing better than a lot of their competitors who aren't doing this. Why so generous? Because people do reinstall frequently out of necessity -- just read these boards and our advice. Symantec doesn't want to waste valuable tech support time for a simple issue of clearing a locked license. Figure the time involved and Symantec has probably found the right breakpoint.
Anyhow, at the end of that year, starting from day 1 of the first installation, all those machines will need a new license. Quite likely a lot of the original user's friends will not be friends any more or simply will be tired of not being able to reinstall because of locked licenses and decide that the fee is relatively small given the quality of the product they've been using all this time.
So, buying from Ebay or any discounter will save the user money initially (as long as the license is new and valid; and ebay is solid enough that you can get your money back if the license isn't), but will ultimately lead to more customers for Symantec (as long as the product stays as good as it is).
Hi mij,
An interesting hypothesis you present, however I look at it from a different perspective. Especially since this was the second posting of the same suggestion within hours, I would hate to see it promoted further.
Norton has been giving users the ability to update to the newest product free of charge and I would not want to see that program come to an end due to abuse.
I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
Best wishes.
You can buy it easily from the web site https://shop.symantecstore.com
You will be asked if you want to purchase the package or just the license to download it from internet... it's really easy to get it.
Please let know if you bought it and if you like it :)
