When I enable WIFI Privacy I suffer a drastic reduction in internet upload and download throughput. When not enabling WIFI Privacy, I receive at least 150 MbpS download speed; when enabled, it drops to 35 - 50 MbpS. I am situated in Indiana and the virtual sites are usually on the West Coast. Has anyone found a way to use this feature without major speed degradation?
There is always going to be some degradation in speed as the data is encrypted and decrypted as it comes and goes from your computer.
The speeds you are seeing are not what would be expected. That is why I suggested an alternative virtual location setting. Are you using the Auto Select setting.
Thank you for your suggestion. My WiFi setting includes "Auto Select." When I turn 'off' VPN, I receive an immediate return to normal internet speed. When I enable VPN, the internet performance is similar to a sailor throwing out a sea anchor.
Try setting the virtual location to Auto. That setting has NWP choose the best server for performance. It is not necessarily the closest physical serve to your actual server.
