I am running Norton WiFi Privacy on a MacBook Pro with High Sierra (currently 10.13.4), and I use two-factor identification via the VIP Access app on iOS to login to Norton. I stopped using WiFi Privacy several months ago because of the issue of having to constantly login. I saw in the update release notes for the new version that that problem was supposed to have been fixed, so I uninstalled WiFi Privacy using Trash Me and reinstalled the latest version (1.4.10 confirmed in the app).
My login credentials survived exactly one reboot. Since then, I have to log back in every time, which is made even more annoying by the two-factor authentication. I have two months left on my WiFi Privacy subscription. Does anyone know if this is a problem that is being actively worked on or should I just let my subscription expire?
The 2FA does not affect the login to NWP. It only helps protect your Norton Account from unauthorized use.
Your Trusting This Device has only effectively disabled 2FA on that specific computer. So any time you go to log into your Norton Account for any reason, you will no longer need the VIP code.
I have updated to 10.13.5. Similar to when I re-installed the app, after updating my login persisted for exactly one reboot and then went away. I have also discovered that the "Trust this Device" option is available when manually entering an authenticator code. Unfortunately, manually entering an authenticator code and Trusting the Device doesn't do anything... my credentials still go away no matter how I do the two-step authentication.
