If I buy NIS 2013, could I stay with 19.9 after my license expires in Jan 2013 by just entering the NIS 2013 product serial number? I had so many problems with 2013, and NO TECH SUPPORT! that I'll be happy to stay with 19.9. I think the "new improvements" in 2013 are still not tested.
This used to be the case, but Norton have fixed this now. After having terrible experiences with NIS2013, I decided to keep using NIS2012 on all my new installs. Initially, you had to get Norton chat-support to issue you with a replacement 2012 key, but sometime in the past few weeks, they have fixed this. Now, if you purchase a new NIS key, it will work with either NIS2013 or NIS2012. I have done this on 2 new PCs in the past 2 weeks and will do a third soon. Once you install NIS2012, you must go to the update settings and disable the "download new version" option. You will still get version updates withing v19, but it wont update to NIS2013 (for now?). The big question is - for how long will Norton keep issueing updates to NIS2012 ????? It's already at v19.9, so there it sounds like they are eventually going to force an upgrade ???

Was the new key you used for a 2012 or 2013 product?
As to the updates, Norton has continued to issue updates to cover the Norton Toolbar support for the ever changing versions of Firefox and malware definitions.
