Greetings all,
I use Ghost 15 and have a multi-boot (Vista/C:); (Win7/I:) system (2 partitions on 1 HD)
I want to get rid of Vista on C: drive, primarily because i can't get it to install SP-2 (i've tried everything under God's heaven to no avail) and besides, i'm more than satisfied with Win7.
I am wondering what is the best way to delete Vista on C drive:, preserving Win 7 on I: drive - i have done some homework on ways to do it and wonder if anyone could verify if it will work, or, if it won't, give me step-by-step instructions to follow.
So far, this way seems by far the best with minimal chance of royally screwing Win7 partition/drive up -
1. Make an image with Ghost of the Windows 7 partition and save it to your external drive or other internal drive.
2. Once the image is made and saved, overwrite the Vista Partition with the Windows 7 partition image you just created (it will want to reboot - this is ok).
3. Once this is done, Boot your computer from the Windows 7 DVD and select "Install" and keep on going until you get to the partitions screen. Select "Advanced". You will see 2 Win7 partitions. Delete the 2nd one and cancel the Windows 7 installation (2nd one would be the original Win7 install on I: drive, 1st would be now be the replaced Vista install on C: drive, now replaced via Ghost Win7 image)
4. Reboot and again go into your Windows 7 DVD but this time select the "Repair" option. It will find that the startup needs to be repaired. Allow it to repair automatically and to reboot again. Again go into the repair option and this time it will detect the Windows 7 installation and will offer you the option to use windows tools to repair. Repair the startup once more.
5. Done.
Forgive the long post, considering it's my first but i want to be sure of doing things right - hence, i look to the computer/Ghost guru's for guidance.
TIA,
Ray :)
