In the thirty years or so that I have had a PC, User Accounts were simple to set up and change. My typical set up was Pops, Mum, daughter #1 and daughter#2 and evolved as the kids flew the nest and also as Forums such as this suggested, so my current User Accounts (now that I know how to disable/enable Flash) is Pops and Mum (both Standard) and Pops Administrator.
I set up my new Win10 laptop with Pops Administrator and wanted to add me, Pops.
I was told that if I proceeded, I could have an account that would enable me, amongst other things, to pre-pay for my kids to play games - so their real aim is clear.
If I've followed the instructions correctly, I had to enter my email address - the system has then sent me an email saying that I've been invited by me "to join their family as an adult". Further, "If you accept, you'll be able to approve requests, change kids' settings and get weekly activity reports." This invitation "will expire in 14 days". My new account won't be in the name that I wanted - Pops - it'll be my email address. (Perhaps I would be able to change that later.)
And then I'll have to do the same blasted procedure again for my wife's User Account.
Can I not have "Pops/Pops Admin/'erIndoors" as I had before? Or have I read it wrong? Has anyone actually set up more than one User Account? Was it as complicated as I've found?
And then to add to my woe, I've just been told that having a Microsoft Account may/may not be compulsory in the future - even the Microsoft 'Insider' experts and MVPs can't agree on this - see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/will-win10-system-requirements-force-users-to-have/6d7c6e8e-b8e1-454d-9327-98f75147751e?page=2.
And the problem with that is that although I have a Microsoft account that allows me to use Outlook and use the Microsoft Community, it won't let me enter any other 'protected' areas. I'm getting Sid-all help from Microsoft here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-other_settings/microsoft-id-password-fails-in-store-add-profile/2e1d2d08-ed31-4cdf-a82b-f67caf049b9d
Anyway, I'm rambling now - can anyone help me with my User Account issues?
